If it weren’t for ESEC 2016, I definitely would not have gotten to where I am now. Following a day of fascinating presentations, the reception gave students an opportunity to engage with speakers who are renowned in their respective fields. Even though I had little knowledge of accelerator and particle physics in my second year of EngSci, I was connected to a dark matter researcher at Stanford University through the director of particle physics – an Engsci alum. Because of this simple connection, I was able to spend my summer working with brilliant researchers from all around the world in California. The global network of EngSci alumni is unlike any other, and I’m very excited to see what the future holds.
